Riga team

Approximately 10% of population is affected by a learning disorder, which often robs them of chance to learn new skills, even when it is possible with slightly modified teaching methodology. The project “Music for All” is designed to address issues in connection with accessibility to qualitative, goal-oriented music education by people with special needs.

The issues that the project addresses can be classified into two major groups:

1. Available teaching methods, materials and capacity of music educators to provide people with special needs with qualitative music teaching.
2. Generally flawed attitude to people with special needs as musicians: by music teachers, legislators, fellow musicians and society in general.

Therefore the overall objective of the project is to integrate people with special needs in society and offer them the same opportunities as any other person has.

During the project, Partners will organize:

  • three experience exchange workshops for teachers,
  • a joint teachers’ seminar to develop idea bank for a methodological handbook for special music education that will be available in four languages,
  • art camp “Meeting in Music”,
  • blog,
  • local dissemination events,
  • final conference.
  • Music teachers and the general public will learn about the project and special music education through a documentary “Music for All”.
